***VACCINATION PROOF REQUIRED!

My classes are perfect for beginners, intermediates and professional artists alike. Creating a very supportive environment, I take you through a painting step-by-step. I have a unique method of teaching color theory and how to build a painting in a fun and effective way. I also do painting demonstrations throughout the process for the group and each individual, explaining visually how to solve problems or create different effects. Class size is small to give lots of individual attention.

SPRING CLASSES

This season I am offering weekly 5 week classes, meeting once a week for 2.5hrs. You may choose the morning class or evening class. Also, I will be adding some one day workshops.

Use the subject of landscape as an excuse to learn color theory, brushwork, and helpful techniques to create beautiful paintings with ease! Beginners will be surprised how quickly they can complete a painting, and more experienced artists will learn ways to paint more effectively, bringing their skills to the next level.

A RIVER IN PERSPECTIVE

Let’s make rivers flow…all the way back into space! In this five-week workshop, we’ll explore how to create the feeling of a river winding into the distance using simple, approachable perspective techniques. Through fun, low-pressure exercises and demonstrations, you’ll learn to “see” depth more clearly while discovering helpful tricks—like shaping riverbanks, placing a horizon line, and using vanishing points—to create believable, dynamic space.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a finished landscape painting of a quiet, meandering river, using linear perspective to establish a convincing sense of distance, with thoughtfully shaped forms and composition guiding the viewer’s eye through the scene.

ALL levels welcome!

One can follow along with the teacher step-by-step, or work more independently if you have taken my classes before. Photo references are provided.

1 Day Workshop
Abstract Landscapes, A Day of Playful Painting

Let go of perfection and dive into the joy of painting! In this one-day workshop, we’ll explore abstract landscapes with a loose, playful approach that invites curiosity, experimentation, and surprise.

We’ll begin with fun, low-pressure warm-up exercises to shake off expectations and open up your creative instincts. From there, you’ll layer color, shapes, and gestures to create expressive landscapes that emerge naturally through the process. There’s no right or wrong here — just exploration, discovery, and freedom.

This class is all about play, creative confidence, and enjoying the unexpected. Perfect for anyone looking to loosen up and reconnect with the fun of painting.

  • Lynne Adams, with her calm compassionate manner, breaks down the painting experience into a joyful process–clear, simple, and rewarding.

  • I have always maintained that I cannot draw and therefore never attempted to paint. However, using this method, I was astonished that I painted a landscape scene from one of my vacation photos within two hours and everyone that has seen it loves it.

  • This is my third session with Lynne on the adventure of discovering the exciting world of painting. I have learned so much from her about painting landscapes. She has a very clear way of explaining color theory, mixing colors, interpreting the landscape and how to transfer it to the canvas. I have completed several good (in my opinion) paintings that people seem to enjoy. She creates a light, happy atmosphere and encourages conversation about each others interpretation of the common subject. She answers questions about her much admired paintings. Thus we learn how to accomplish a desired effect. She brings a lot of energy along with her extensive knowledge to the class. People will learn much from her along with having a very enjoyabe and memorable experience.

Pat R. Artist, 2nd Year of taking Art Classes
  • This class sounded really fascinating, but as the time approached I began to feel really anxious. I knew that I could draw fairly well, but the idea of painting always seemed out of my realm of possibilities. But within minutes after the class began, my confidence began to grow exponentially and I came away with a painting I could hardly believe was mine, after only two hours! Lynne is a wonderful teacher--gentle, encouraging, competent. I’m inspired now to continue painting!
