***VACCINATION PROOF REQUIRED!

My classes are perfect for beginners, intermediates and professional artists alike. Creating a very supportive environment, I take you through a painting step-by-step. I have a unique method of teaching color theory and how to build a painting in a fun and effective way. I also do painting demonstrations throughout the process for the group and each individual, explaining visually how to solve problems or create different effects. Class size is small to give lots of individual attention.

Summer Weekend Workshops

This summer I am offering 3 separate weekend-long workshops. You can sign up for 1, 2, or all 3!!! Each weekend will be a different focus. These classes will be held inside at my air-conditioned studio at 1 Cottage Street, Easthampton. The classes will run for 6 hours each day, which will include time for discussions, critiques, lunch and coffee breaks. If the weather is nice we can eat outside next to the Nashawannuck Pond, which overlooks beautiful Mt. Tom.

Workshop 1
Paint Like Monet!

Step into the world of Claude Monet and explore the beauty of his iconic The Japanese Bridge in this inspiring acrylic painting class. Working from one of Monet’s beloved bridge compositions, students will create their own painted interpretation while learning about the expressive brushwork, luminous color relationships, and layered textures that helped define the Impressionist style.

Using acrylic paint on canvas, we’ll focus on how Monet used broken color, reflected light, and energetic strokes to create movement and atmosphere. Demonstrations and guided instruction will cover color mixing, building depth with warm and cool tones, and applying paint in loose, confident layers that capture the feeling of light dancing across water and foliage.

This class is designed for all skill levels and encourages a relaxed, exploratory approach to painting. Whether you are new to acrylics or looking to loosen up your style, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of Monet’s innovative techniques and a vibrant finished painting inspired by one of art history’s most celebrated masterpieces.

Workshop 2
Palette Knife Techniques

Discover the bold, expressive possibilities of painting with a palette knife in this exciting hands-on acrylic painting class. Instead of relying primarily on brushes, students will use palette knives to apply, layer, scrape, and sculpt paint across the canvas, creating rich texture, energetic movement, and vibrant color effects.

Through guided demonstrations and step-by-step instruction, you’ll learn a variety of palette knife techniques including blending, layering thick paint, creating texture, and using broken color to add depth and light to your work. We’ll explore how color relationships and expressive mark-making can bring landscapes to life with a fresh, painterly quality.

This class encourages experimentation and freedom while helping students build confidence in composition, color mixing, and surface texture. Suitable for beginners as well as experienced painters, the workshop offers a fun and approachable way to create dynamic, textured paintings full of personality and energy.

Abstract Mixed Media Trees

Play, experiment, loosen up, have FUN, then make sense of it all, pulling composition together to make a statement.

Explore the mixed media world using many different tools and materials to give you unlimited creativity and freedom of expression. In this class we will do exercises to learn how to create various effects of texture, depth, transparency, and mark-making. There will be discussion about ways to “abstract” the landscape, bringing it into the contemporary realm. The last 1/4 of the workshop will be spent on a final project with more focus.
