I am a landscape painter. I work in oils, acrylics, charcoal, graphite, pen and ink. The work is on canvas, boards and paper. I paint local scenes because I don't need to go far to find beauty in this valley.
I keep you engaged by rendering a sense of place, but not over-working the motif to the point of stiffness. My style is somewhere between realism and abstraction. I exaggerate color, compose with balance and harmony, create pathways for the eye to take a journey through the work, but keep it loose enough that you can insert your own experience between the brushstrokes.
I am inspired daily by coffee, museums, galleries, libraries, traveling to Europe, other artists, trying to get lost while driving, coffee, books, walking, hiking, hiking, and hiking.
